Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a fungus that grows mainly on birch and poplar trunks, whose fruiting bodies are used to obtain extracts standardised for polysaccharides and beta-glucans. It has been valued for centuries for its properties, although when growing on a tree it acts parasitically and eventually leads to the tree’s death. It can be found in the Northern Hemisphere.
Daily serving (2 capsules): 1000 mg extract from Chaga fruiting bodies (DER 10:1). The extract is standardised to a minimum of 40% (400 mg) polysaccharides, including at least 30% (300 mg) beta-glucans. 1000 mg of extract was obtained from 10 g of Chaga fruiting bodies.
Chaga is characterised by a hard structure and an irregular black-brown appearance resembling cracked bark. Thanks to its valuable polysaccharides and beta-glucans, Chaga extract may be a beneficial addition to the daily diet.
